Hearing loss

Are you affected by hearing loss? yourself or a loved one?

Addressing this is vital as the individual can become isolated, resulting in low mood and anxiety.

Reducing background noise, using visual cues and encouraging the use of hearing aids.

Communication: Face the person directly, avoid shouting, as it can distort sound. If the individual can lip-read, make sure there is good lighting

Background noise: Should be turned off or reduced where possible, including TVs, radios, and fans.

Hearing aids: Make sure they are accessible, clean and functioning.

Visual aids: Use written notes, facial expressions and gestures.

Clear speech: Speak clearly; avoid repeating the same sentence; instead, rephrase and shorten what you are saying.
