I am a Health Care Assistant, and it’s the most rewarding job.

I have worked as a Health Care Assistant for just over two years. When I started, I didn't know what to expect, but it felt different to anything I've done before. Every day is different, even though I have the same regular clients. I love to hear their stories of growing up, where they were during the war, and their families. One of my clients, Mr H, tells me stories about his life and childhood. We get on well, and he is happy to see me every week.

It's not always easy; there are days when clients are unwell or feeling low, and traffic can be tricky, but working with the team and the support I get makes everything worthwhile. When you're out in the community wearing your tunic, strangers stop to chat with you, which I thoroughly enjoy.

Being a Health Care Assistant isn't just about helping with things like getting dressed or cooking, it's about being there for someone, listening to them and making sure they are not alone. That's what makes my job so special.
