What does it mean to be a Home Care Manager?

When people ask me what I do for a job, and I tell them I am a home care manager, they often think it's all about spreadsheets and schedules. While these are an important part of my job role, the best bit is leading a team that truly cares about our clients, their families and the local community.

Having been a Care Manager for many years, I am reminded every day that we do what we do. Connecting with the community through our work is vital. We work closely with our care home, helping those who have decided to move in and supporting those who wish to return home.

As a manager, my job is to make sure my team has everything they need the moment they step through the door, from training to emotional support. This gives them the tools to provide the best possible care for our clients. It's about building trust and professional relationships with both the team and clients, and supporting our local community.

It is also important to me to support local and national charities through fundraising. Over the years, I have completed sponsored walks, a pretty muddy 5K, a fire walk, and many more.
